Welcome to Kent Family Farms

Hello Everyone,

I have attached our contract, NuVet Vitamin information and a coupon to use for ordering TLC pet food, which your puppy will go home on. Take a look at our contract and if you have any questions at all about anything let me know and we can discuss those questions. Just make sure you are okay with everything in the contract. I have the contract here when you come, so no need to print it off. I just ask with COVID right now that just to make things easier, if you can bring your own pen to sign the contract, that would be great.

I would like to take a minute to talk about both NuVet and TLC Pet Food. I highly recommend both. All my dogs are on NuVet and it is the only vitamin supplement that is FDA approved and is human grade, meeting a very high standard in its testing. This is why we have chosen this supplement over all the other supplements that you see out there. Those other supplements simply do not have enough testing behind them to be reliable and I am not willing to risk them with my dogs. I will extend our 2 year health guarantee to 3 years, if you use NuVet vitamins. The phone number and order code can be found on the attached document, as well as, other information about NuVet.

Also, I have used a few different foods over the years and have primarily stuck with grain free foods due to the fact that most food that contain grain, use grain that are essentially fillers and have no benefit to the dogs. But, I was always reluctant with going completely grain free due to the fact that dogs when you remove grains all together can build up an intolerance to them. My vet stays away from grain free for this reason. I just was not happy with the ingredients in most foods that weren't grain free. After a recall in the food we were using, I went on a search for a high quality food again. This time I found a food that not only was natural and not full of fillers, but did have some grain in them that aids with digestion, but also has a great balance of quality meats, animal fats, vitamins and minerals. It is a very well balanced food and my dogs love it. TLC Pet Foods delivers directly to your doorstep for FREE, offering automatic shipping according to your puppy’s unique eating habits at no additional charge. They will ship anywhere and the bag is very reasonably priced. I recommend the puppy food for the first 7 to 8 months. It is the same formula, but with a slightly higher fat content, that aids in brain development for your new puppy as they grow. I have attached a $5 off coupon to this email, if you choose to order TLC Pet Food. I will also be sending you home with a small bag of the puppy food. It will be enough for you to slowly wean them onto another food if you choose to instead use a different food.

We have set up a list of items on our website that we recommend shopping for your new puppy. Here is the link to that list: http://www.kentfamilyfarms.com/products-we-recommend.html . Let me know if you have any questions at all about any of those items. We will send your puppy home with a blanket and snuggle puppy that smells like their littermates, The Puppy Primer training book, harness and leash, toy, a large ziploc bag of TLC Puppy Food and some other goodies.

We also highly recommend enrolling your puppy in training, this is a really great way to get the whole family involved and also a good way to be consistent in training and helping your puppy to be well rounded. So, for a while now, I have been less than impressed with the lack of consistency among dog trainers out there. I always recommend to our puppy families to do puppy classes and encourage getting a trainer, but often I find that not all trainers are equal in their abilities or their training methods. We are very insistent on a positive reinforcement training method here at Kent Family Farms. While most of the trainers we have come into contact have been wonderful, there have been a few we have been very unhappy with training method wise with our puppies in their new homes.

We also are acknowledging that we are sending home puppies right now to families that are not going to be able to get an in person trainer due to COVID 19 and our families really are going to need the support during this time.

This problem has been something that we have struggled with for a while and have reached out to others and have heard nothing but good things to say about this company I want to tell you about. I decided to reach out to them and was greeted with professionalism and could honestly tell how much they genuinely cared about what they do, which means a lot to me. Probably the thing that sold me the most on them is the qualifications of their trainer. She was a school teacher (so knows how to write a good curriculum), that has now become a professional dog trainer. She has studied Animal Science at Utah State University, spent nine months training puppies at Puppy Steps Training, apprentice trained for 18 months at GOOD Dog Autism Companions and is now a professional trainer with their organization. She studied with CATCH Training Academy and is a CTA Certified Dog Trainer. She is also an AKC CGC Evaluator, professional member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. She uses a science-based, positive and force-free training method, which is a very important thing to me. She also notes on her website that she is all about continued learning and is enrolled in a Masters training program currently, which as you all know is important to me. Nobody knows everything, and as breeders, trainers and puppy families, we need to take new information and be able to learn, adapt and grow for the betterment of our dogs.

The other thing that sold me on this company is they offer one on one video training on top of all their regular material. You have a wealth of information available to you, but also can make an appointment with them to have a one on one training session, all included in their one time fee.

All of that considered, we are thrilled to work with BAXTER & Bella. BAXTER & Bella is a worldwide company that offers expert online puppy training. Using our unique promotional code 'KFF' for 25% off of the program, our families can enjoy lifetime memberships with BAXTER and Bella’s continually expanding library of puppy training resources. We still continue to support the use of local, screened and recommended, in person training classes (once isolation is not required anymore), but BAXTER & Bella is an affordable option that works with every busy schedule and works while we are all at home. This program is absolutely worthwhile for all puppy families and we hope you will choose to give it a chance.

As always, we are happy to answer any questions that you have about the program or anything else training related that we can help you with transitioning your new puppy into your home.

You can watch their introductory video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdbrmycYiNM&feature=youtu.be

You can learn more about how it works and what’s included https://www.baxterandbella.com/learn-more https://www.baxterandbella.com/learn-more?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIj5uwp_vP6gIVg8DACh3HgQ8fEAAYASAAEgIVvvD_BwE

We recommend getting started with Baxter and Bella right away before your puppy even comes home, as they have a lot of material to go through before you even get your puppy. I have also attached information to this email on how to contact them, with the coupon code for 25% off attached.

We have also put together a video and a blog post to send home with families to help with the fact that we cannot have our normal 1hr to 1.5hr visit and instructional time when the puppies go to their new homes. This isn't ideal, as we love the personal time to meet with all of you, but we feel this is the safest way to do this for everyone amid this pandemic situation.

We also wanted to go through a few things with regards to pick up protocols. We want to make sure that we are following government guidelines when you pick up your puppy to protect both you and our family right now. We have scheduled all the families about 30 minutes apart for pick ups. We did this so that there is enough time inbetween for families to pick up their puppy, but not come into contact with other families. If you are here early wait in your car and I will come to you. When you get here, if you could text me or call me on my cell 705-206-3784 and identify yourself and tell me you are here that would be great. Also, my cell is good for any questions you have. I will be disinfecting inbetween families before I touch the next puppy and puppy package items. When you pick up your puppy, I will be wearing a face mask, I would ask if you are able to, that you wear one as well. I understand if you cannot due to any medical reason and won't question that at all. I will hand you your puppy and your puppy package and will have both contracts filled out ahead of time, so all you have to do is sign the contract with your own pen. If you forget a pen, I will have one available. Other than that, we will try to keep most conversation to at least 6ft apart or on the phone afterwards. I will make sure that I am available to go over any questions you have after you get your puppy. I also welcome questions before you pick up your puppy. Always remember that we love your puppy and prefer if you have questions about anything at all, that you contact us to deal with those questions right away. There are also no dumb questions, so ask us anything, anytime.

Our address is 7000 Hwy 17E, Desbarats, ON. The easiest way to find us is to look for the ESSO at the St. Joseph Island turnoff, we are directly across the divided highway from the ESSO. There is a big open paved driveway in front of our garage and our house is the bungalow to the west of the driveway. There will more than likely be our white Honda Odyssey van in the driveway. We are also the only house on the North side of the highway between MacLennan Rd and McKnight Rd. Just to let people know though for some reason if you put our address into a GPS it sometimes takes you about a mile east of our house. But, google maps works well for finding it.

You can find the cost of your puppy on the website:

http://www.kentfamilyfarms.com/nyx-and-mr.-bingly-may-2021.html

http://www.kentfamilyfarms.com/luna-mr.-bingly-litter-may-2021.html

When calculating the cost calculate it like this:

$2500+HST (13%) - $500 = $2325

$2700+HST - $500 = $2551

$2800+HST - $500 = $2664

$3000+HST - $500 = $2890

$3300+HST -$500 = $3229

$3500+HST - $500 = $3455

$3700+HST - $500 = $3681

$3800+HST - $500 = $3794

Final payment is due at 7 weeks old. Etransfer to akent@kentfamilyfarms.com is preferred, but let us know if you prefer another payment method.

You also will be getting an email from Trupanion on the day of pick up to sign up for the 30 days free pet insurance. You will need to sign up within 24hrs of getting your puppy to qualify for the 30 days free. We recommend putting this into your alarm on your phone or something else to remind you to do this. After the 30 days, you can decide whether pet insurance is the route that you want to go in. There are many different plans to choose from with different deductibles and given the increase in vet costs over the past few years, it is something that we do recommend now.

As always, if you have any questions about anything at all, let me know. I know this is a lot of information to process and if any of it doesn't make sense, just reach out and we will help in any way we can. With delay in shipping for many things due to COVID I highly recommend ordering sooner than later for the food and vitamins, as well as any amazon or pet store items. But, I have checked with the food and vitamin companies and they are shipping on time at this point.

We would also appreciate it if you sent us your contact information that you would like to be put on the microchip forms. We will need:
